Service Description

Join luthier Michael Whitney in a small, two-student workshop environment and build your own acoustic guitar from raw materials. Over five immersive weeks, you'll learn the techniques, tools, and processes used in a working lutherie workshop while creating an instrument uniquely your own. No prior woodworking experience is required. Whether you're an experienced woodworker, a musician looking to deepen your connection to the instrument, or a complete beginner who has never picked up a tool before, this course is designed to meet you where you are. All patterns, molds, materials, and hardware are provided. Students may choose from a selection of traditional body styles, including OM, OOO, OO, and Dreadnought designs. You'll also apply a hand-rubbed finish to your guitar. For an additional fee, a professionally sprayed lacquer finish can be applied by the instructor. Enrolment is limited to two students per cohort to ensure a highly personalized learning experience and plenty of one-on-one instruction throughout the build. Course Schedule: - 25 instructional days over five consecutive weeks - Monday through Friday - 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM daily
